Traffic Incident Management (TIM) in the Bay Area 

Traffic congestion caused by incidents is a major problem affecting mobility in the San Francisco Bay Area. MTC works in conjunction with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and allied agencies to facilitate and promote interagency coordination among Bay Area traffic incident management and response personnel as part of a comprehensive Incident Management Program to enhance traffic incident detection, verification, mitigation, response and clearance.
